Very often, consumers confused over washed (cleaned) and unwashed (un-cleaned) seaweed. If you intend to keep seaweed for long period of time, you should order unwashed seaweed, else; you may order the washed type for consumption and short term storage. Here we provide a few pictures for illustration purpose.
The unwashed seaweed need to be washed before prepare as food. Never use hot water to wash seaweed or it will "dissolve" into water.
When compare in dry stage, unwashed seaweed usually has salt (natural sea salt appears in white crystal powder form) stick on it; while the washed seaweed seldom has such foreign material.
